Thanks to the new Facebook algorithm finally catching up with me, the 1,000+ people who might be interested in reading what I write aren’t aware that I’ve written anything … even when I post a link to what I’ve written and share it with my Facebook friends and with people who have Liked my blog’s Facebook page.
In the past, I’d post something and it would sit at the top of my friends’ News Feed for a little while. If people clicked Like or commented, it would stay there longer or jump back up to the top if it had moved down a bit.
Now, however, Facebook shows my post to somewhere between 20-50 people when I post it. If none of them quickly Like it, share it, or comment on it, it basically goes away forever. And then, of course, Facebook offers me the option of paying so that they’ll show it to more people after they prevented those same people from seeing it when I first posted it.
Facebook: It’s the hip new extortion racket.
