Sometimes I enjoy starting a good discussion.
But my Facebook friends shouldn’t be the only ones having all this fun.
If I know anything about Tumblr and Twitter, there are plenty of strong opinions on the topic of GMOs amongst users. But is any of it based on scientific research?
To be clear, I’m interested in research on the health of people who consume GMOs in their food rather than questions of the morality of the corporations, like Monsanto, who are heavy-hitters in the GMO game in the United States.
I understand that it very well might be bad for us, morally, to support these corporations and that a move to more GMOs very well might be bad for the long-term well-being of food producers due to the practices of these corporations. But what most people say on the topic is something like, “I don’t want to eat GMOs because of how they might/will impact my health.” That’s the claim that I hear from many on the Left but that seems not to be based on any scientific study that hasn’t been published by someone trying to sell organic food.
