Nixon Didn’t Love Jews?!

I’m sure this will come as a surprise to many … but apparently RIchard Nixon didn’t have many nice things to say about Jews. The New York Times chronicles many of the unpleasant offerings here.

But don’t worry: Henry Kissinger wasn’t all that concerned about Jews either:

“The emigration of Jews from the Soviet Union is not an objective of American foreign policy,” Mr. Kissinger said. “And if they put Jews into gas chambers in the Soviet Union, it is not an American concern. Maybe a humanitarian concern.”

Maybe?

I guess, from his happy home in the U.S., Kissinger wasn’t too concerned about being put into a gas chamber himself. But I wonder if he’d have been as confident if he’d heard everything that Nixon was saying about him and the rest of America’s Jews when he wasn’t around …
