Joel Ward scored the game-winning goal to eliminate Boston from the NHl playoffs last night. What follows, apart from a celebration in Washington?
Well, if you guessed incredibly disturbing racist rants on Twitter, you’d be right! Perhaps this isn’t a major surprise, especially after so many racist fans of The Hunger Games took to Twitter recently to complain about black actors being cast in the film.
The Bruins organization released the following statement:

“The Bruins are very disappointed by the racist comments that were made following the game last night …. These classless, ignorant views are in no way a reflection of anyone associated with the Bruins organization.”

I’m amazed by the fact that so many people not only hold these sentiments, but that they want to publicly announce them. Where have we gone so far wrong as a society that people feel like this is somehow acceptable?
