This video is fascinating for two reasons, neither of which is Bolton’s claim that assassinating Iranian scientists amounts to a useless half-measure:

  1. People continue to ask John Bolton about things and to listen to his responses;
  2. People seem surprised that John Bolton would like the U.S. to go to war with Iran.

ThinkProgress has a nice (and short) piece on why Bolton is wrong about pretty much everything he says here. But my guess is that the audience that watched Bolton bloviate on Fox News isn’t fact-checking his claims over at ThinkProgress.

By the way, does anyone remember how Bolton became U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations? Recess appointment!

You know, just because it’s been five years since Bolton was at all relevant doesn’t mean it’s too late for him to get into this year’s race for the GOP nomination; he could run as the candidate who promises not to assassinate any more scientists since we can just kill them all in the more traditional way: by sending in tens of thousands of ground troops.
