C’mon, Amnesty International!
I donate to Amnesty International every year and I encourage you to do so too, whether you can write them a check or give some of your time by attending local group meetings or writing letters on behalf of prisoners of conscience.
I don’t really need anyone to send me anything in return, but this time I got a letter that was so odd that I had to reproduce it in its entirety. I put in the $XXX rather than the donated amount; the rest is quoted word for word:
Dear Supporter,
Thank you for your commitment to Amnesty International. Because you donated $XXX or more during our September membership drive, we are sending two hand-beaded Amnesty bracelets. Share the second bracelet with a friend and Pass the Candle of home to a new generation.
Begin to wrap up letter here in the concluding paragraph. Use block format and continue for a few lines. Begin to wrap up letter here in the concluding paragraph. Use block format and continue for a few lines.
Sincerely,
Amnesty International
So … this is embarrassing, Amnesty folks. It should be fixed.
