It seems that Penn State fans and alums have been writing to the Daily Nebraskan for the past few days about the weekend’s football game and the role in which visiting Nebraskans unwittingly found themselves. The DN editors collected and published them today. It’s worth clicking through and reading a few.
For my own part, I think it’s far too soon for anyone at Penn State to be talking about how this football weekend advanced some sort of healing process; it’s not Penn State’s healing that’s really at issue since it’s not Penn State alums or fans who are the primary victims in this terrible story. I’m also absolutely sure that there’s nothing that Nebraskans enjoyed more than reading these letters; Huskers pride themselves on their friendliness and good sportsmanship — they’ll even tell you about how friendly and what good sports they are if you’re an out-of-town fan on a football Saturday — and this confirmation will undoubtedly be the talk of the town for weeks to come.
